As salaamu alaikum Second Grade Families,
In shaa Allah, you are in the best of health and Iman. Alhamdulillah, we are doing well in second grade. Last week we completed our second spelling test, shared reading as a whole group, another writing assignment, moving along in math, social studies and we did an activity in science.
Ma shaa Allah, second graders are doing really well with learning their spelling words. In writing, we wrote a small moment realistic fiction story. For shared reading, we read a realistic fiction story and learned about quotation marks. In math, we are moving along with math mountains, equations with doubles, doubles plus one and minus one, even and odd numbers. In social studies, we discussed that every community has its own characteristics such as buildings, businesses, natural characteristics, transportation, and places to have fun. For science, we watched a video about why we need clothing and different weather needs different materials of clothing. We tested four different materials for softness, stiffness, and absorbency to make a hat to wear if we were stuck on an island. I sent pictures of your student on the Remind from before and after this activity.
Ma shaa Allah, most of the students are working on the websites to read, practice math skills and completer seesaw assignments. There are still some students who are not signed in to epic, kids a-z, or seesaw. Please help your student to sign in to these websites and read one book every day, practice one math skill on IXL, and check seesaw for assignments. Also, check out google classroom for sister Muntaha's assignments. This will be beneficial to your students if in case we go on line. It is also beneficial for extra practice.
As always, I appreciate your support and cooperation in helping our students to learn and grow. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
